Self-Identified Areas of Special Interest and Experience:

The Role of an NCHC-Qualified Site Visitor
I believe a program reviewer should, first and foremost, listen and learn, when he or she visits and campus. Beyond that, I think reviewers should make sure that everyone with whom she meets understands that she is there to HELP, and that she is not there to throw darts at anyone. Ideally, when students, faculty and staff understand the role of program reviews, they will be more candid in their conversations, and we can find opportunities for mutual benefit for honors and the rest of the campus community. Often, I think the program review can educate many folks on campus about what honors really does, and how honors can build up and contribute to the rest of campus. So many see honors as competition for resources instead of a potential partner. Program reviewers can also be an advocate for honors. That said, I see every campus visit and a chance to learn. I am an information junkie, and I have found that I learn from every program I visit – even those programs that may not be as strong as my program.
