FINANCE COMMITTEE MEMBERS

 

Committee Charge

The Finance Committee shall:

  1.  Evaluate all annual budget requests as to their coherence with and fitness to achieving NCHC’s mission.
  2. Insure that the work of all NCHC committees furthers NCHC’s mission by designing and distributing a budget request form that includes a narrative report of the previous year’s accomplishments, the coming year’s goals and objectives, including an account of how those relate to the mission, and a line-item budget request for the coming operational year which clearly shows how the appropriation would be spent.
  3. Solicit from committees their budget requests in order to prepare and submit a budget recommendation to the Board of Directors at its fall meeting.
  4. As per Standing Order IV.A.1.g., the Finance Committee will review any expenditure greater than $10,000 beyond what has been approved previously in the budget process.
  5. Make its aid and counsel available to all NCHC committees by request from the President, Executive Director, or action of the Board of Directors.
  6. Submit reports to the National Headquarters Office as appropriate to keep members informed.
  7. Review all independent financial reviews or audits of NCHC finances.
  8. Report regularly in writing to the Board of Directors.
  9. Work to meet the goals and objectives of NCHC’s Mission Statement.  {October 2012}
  10. Act as an ombudsman for staff concerns and issues with the chair relaying these to the President and working out solutions.
  11.  From time to time and in concert with the Finance Committee, review the benefits package and salary increases.
  12. Working with the Executive Director, advise the Board of Directors of staffing needs and recommend additional staffing when needed.
  13. Periodically review and revise the personnel manual.
