MASTER CLASS AT A GLANCE
Participants will engage in direct observation, discussions, interviews, writing assignments, and mapping exercises. The Master Class will culminate with an opportunity for participants to design assignments to be used during the City as Text™ session at the Annual Conference on Thursday, including the chance to facilitate and debrief a group heading to that destination.
PARTICIPANTS
The New Orleans Master Class is designed for honors and non-honors faculty and administrators who wish to incorporate interdisciplinary and field-based elements into their courses and programs. Alumni of earlier NCHC Faculty Institutes or participants in City as Text™ events will deepen their understanding of City as Text™ pedagogy and have the unique opportunity to design and implement a site-specific assignment during the City as Text™ event on Thursday of the Annual Conference in New Orleans. A workshop on Tuesday will allow participants to develop ideas for their home-campuses to integrate into course work, orientation programs, and other applications. Participants are also invited to engage in some or all of the optional City as Text™ events on Wednesday and Thursday.
